Every December when the Tempe Art Festival comes around, we’re in the crowds walking up and down the booths looking at all the spectacular art. Do we buy any? Well, we have bought pieces in the past, both at the Minneapolis Art Festival and in the Des Moines Art Festival. Right now they are packed away in storage. But we haven’t bought any recently. Well, it’s living in an RV that limits us these days.
But we do enjoy the atmosphere, the crowds and especially the art. This year they had some street artists - yeah, actually drawing on the street. 10’ x 10’ at least. Beautiful.
And, here’s a detail.
And another.
One of my favorites this year was the glass artists. One had some spectacular large works. Packing this for travel must have been a task. And, then setting it up so that it intertwines. But look at the lines of tiny bubbles towards the bottom. How did he do that?
And, here is a detail of that one - check out the lines of bubbles inside.
But, I liked these glass works too. Much simpler.
Here’s a picture of a street musician names Bob Culbertson, playing what is called a ‘stick.’ Often the buskers and street musicians are not well known and trying to break into the business. But Culbertson is quite well known, has a bucketload of cd’s and is a recognized expert in his field.
The crowds were large.
And, then there was the time to sit down for a protein bar for lunch. Trish came with us to the fair. She’s an artist in here own right, has a web site (https://patriciaelserwatercolors.wordpress.com/author/tjelser/) and has actually set up her own booth in an art festival. We were happy to have her along for her humor and her insight
We had taken the light rail in to the Festival and took it back. Nice day, beautiful weather and fun times.
