Have you ever been reading the blog and it all disappeard? Or, the pictures disappeared? Or the posting you were reading disappeared but all the rest were there? Never fear, It is not you.
We have been faced with several challenges as we have been making the conversion from one blog site to another. (I say ‘we’ because Gary is intimately involved in the technical side of the blog - in fact, he IS the technical side.)
Firstly, we had to learn new software to write the blog.
Secondly, we had to learn all of the software connected with the actual blog site on Google.
Thirdly, I had to learn a new piece of photo software in which we download, crop, edit and keep all of our pictures.
Finally, we use Apple computers and Apple just went through a major upgrade to a new Lion Operating System. This was not just a software change, it was an operating system change. This sent our blog writing software into a tizzy (and the blog writer also) and the pictures wouldn’t post correctly to the blog. They posted but were corrupted.
We’ve been working with the blog writing software night tech and he has corrected their software to work with Lion and now we think we’re good to go. Today, everything all the software is working as it is supposed to. Now, if we can just get the blog writer in gear.
Unfortunately, the comments section to the right has emptied. We haven’t lost the comments, they are still on the blog itself but a running listing of the comments made has disappeared.
Ah, the trials and tribulations. If we didn’t think that the new blog site (Google) wasn’t superior to the old one and didn’t think it made the blog easier to read, we wouldn’t have made the change. Don’t we all love change?
Meanwhile, thanks to Gary for all the technical help and thanks to Dan at the MacJournal technical desk.
