Gary and I are going to take a summer trip this year, not a very long one, but a summer trip none-the-less. We are going to Madison, WI for an RV ‘rally.’ Now a rally is part trade show, part seminars on such scintilating topics as ‘Air Conditioner Maintenance’, and ‘RV Tire Care and Maintenance’, part get-together and lots of fun and learning. We went to a smaller rally in March in Yuma, AZ but this one is a national one and it is in Madison, WI. This is close enough for us to get to and we jumped at the chance.
Now, because it is a smaller trip, only 10 days, we didn’t pack as thoroughly nor as long as we usually do for our winter sojourns. For these, we can spend a week putting things out and getting ready. For this trip we took only a day.
And, yes we forgot a few things. We forgot to pack coffee, we forgot to pack dish cloths, we forgot to pack Q-tips, and we forgot a sham-wow to dry the shower. I’m sure we will find some more things. But, after all, it’s only 10 days and, besides, there are stores all over the Midwest, we’re not in the desert.
I made a special effort to make up a container with the dry ingredients for pancakes - and forgot to pack the syrup.
Then, of course, there are the things which we definitely did not forget to pack. I packed my undies - all of them - every last pair I have. And, when I got out of the shower yesterday evening after spending a hot day packing, I reached for clean underwear and. . . Yep, every last pair.
Hey, who forgot to turn on the hot water? Sure enough, I’m in the shower and wondering why the water is tepid. That’s one of our chores whenever we park or camp. We need to turn on the hot water heater to ensure hot water for washing dishes and for showers. Our long hiatus over the spring has dulled our RV knowledge.
Just gotta look at that list more.
