KInd of a miscellaneous day today. First off, we headed off to the College of the Desert Street Fair which is a glorified flea market. The College of the Desert is a Community College here and one way they raise money is to hold this street fair. It is a huge fair and includes a farmer’s market, clothing dealers, sun glasses booths, hat booths, artists selling their creations, patio furniture, some booths for magnetic bracelets to wear to ward off disease (this is California, you know) and many other booths. I went to get some of the red flame raisins which I can’t get enough of. Last year, I was a bit under the weather for the COD street fair and we left this area before I had resupplied us with the raisins. I have regretted it ever since and vowed that this year we would get enough. But, I also picked up some tomatoes, cukes, romaine lettuce, grapefruit etc. Great prices and great variety of fruits and vegetables. (Most, of course, from Mexico.) But, we now have 6, count them, 6 lbs. of red flame raisins.
Gary found a flea market tool dealer and spent some time perusing his selection. A man and his tools. Hmmm. And, I thought Gary didn’t like to ‘shop.’
Sometimes we have things to do at home and, after the market, we came home to work here. Gary has been spending some time on the maintenance for our ‘rolling home.’ We took it in for some routine maintenance, assuming that this certified RV station would know what to do. Wrong. Thus, Gary has been crawling around, under, over and inside the RV lubing, oiling, and inspecting. Here he is underneath the RV lubing the universal joint. Seems there are two joints to lube and the service place lubed only one.
Later, he wanted to lube some of the drive shaft from the steering wheel and is on the floor under the driver’s seat unscrewing the housing so he can get at the shaft.
Meanwhile, he also climbed to the top of the RV to check the seams in the outside sheathing. He took some pictures of the campground from up there. A unique view. This campground used to be a date palm grove and the trees are in straight lines and we must park and drive between them. Difficult parking and close neighbors but the view of the trees against the blue sky is awesome.
Meanwhile I worked in the ‘adult’ room trying to get our bills and finances up to day before we travel on. From this view, you can’t see the game I’m playing.
We have one last hiking day before we leave and have it all planned.
