Sunny Southern California. That’s what it usually is although we’ve spent days inside watching it rain outside. As many of you know, California is suffering through a terrible drought over the last 3 years so there hasn’t been much rain. But the days are not always sunny. We had heard that the surf was going to be especially high Wednesday so we planned to go out to Ocean Beach to see the surfers. We’ve found great surfing pictures here before and thought with the high surf we might be able to see some more.
We had no such luck. Today they were not out although the fog certainly was and the waves were higher than usual. Here’s what happens when you follow your GPS exactly. Actually, this is the truck of a San Diego Parks worker.
We found this neat ‘rainbow’ above the high surf.
Along the pier I happened to look down and saw some gleaming colorful marbles. I was examining one of these when a woman stopped to tell me that it is urban art and that a woman named Pat does this with marbles and cement. I must have seen about 45 or so in a rainbow of colors all along the pier.
From the middle of the pier, we could hardly see the shoreline. From the end, we couldn’t see it at all.
And, from the shore, the pier melted into the fog.
But the waves were rolling in on the rocks.
And we scrambled before we got wet.
