It’s a day off today. We got back so late yesterday that neither of us wanted to do any traveling today. So, we called it an ‘administrative day’ and loafed. Well, type A’s don’t ‘loaf’ but we had no specific plans.
We did go for our daily walk about 3:00. This campground has a beautiful setting, huge sycamore trees, surrounded by green hills with cattle silhouetted against the blue sky, grass and nice large sites. Here’s our site with the tree that towers over our RV. Maybe you can’t see him, but Gary’s also in the picture, he’s the little white stick right under the tree.
There’s a nice trail running through the forests on the outside of the camp and we’ve enjoyed walking along it.
There are some huge sycamores on this campground. Here is one that fell and was cut.
This campground actually has bobcats around it. We’ve seen the pictures in the adult lodge and our neighbors at our last campground told us that they had a bobcat under their picnic table when they pulled into this campground. We’ve been looking around and think we’ve spotted one or two but have no pictures and are aren’t sure if it was a bobcat or a kitty cat. However, probably it was a bobcat since I don’t think that there are many plain old kitty cats roaming around and none that are that bulky. Today, as we were rounding a corner, Gary spotted a large cat, our suspicions were that it was a bobcat. I grabbed my camera and got it ready for action. Sure enough, it turned towards us as it was walking off and - that is no kitty cat.
It stared at us for a while as I snapped some pictures, then, while we were watching it, it turned, walked a few feet, laid down facing away from us and began to lick its paws. Pretty nonchalant and obviously used to people. Was he taunting us? Nah, probably just used to people and well aware of how fast he could run should we move closer.
Look at those eyes, closed - almost.
And, I’d be remiss if I didn’t show you the rest of the ‘wildlife’ around the park. These are the cattle that roam the hills beyond the campground but come down at night for a drink from the watering tank. Luckily, there is a fence between us and the cows.
