Mesa, AZ - Lizards, Cows & Sheep

Today was a day in the library. Oh, boy, Gary and I do the most exciting things. Actually, Gary got a new software program, Adobe Lightshop, to handle all of our photos since the one we’ve been using is no longer being supported by Apple. But, as is common these days, the user manual is online. So we thought we’d get all of our app updates and anything else we needed to get done online here in the library.

To sweeten it all, we stopped at Paradise Bakery for a treat and some coffee before we headed over. There, I’ve said enough about the library - except that the books are arranged according to category, no Dewey Decimal system, no ISBN system, no Library of Congress system, just by category. Makes it a bit difficult to find what you want. I didn’t think any libraries did this. Oh, well.

Oh, out of the corner of my eye, I saw this running across the floor.

Cute. Scurry, little guy, before someone inadvertently steps on you.

Out of the library and we thought we’d walk around the riparian reserve surrounding the library. Something new. We get tired of walking the same places.

Mostly Gilbert where we were walking is a suburb of Phoenix, lots of homes, office buildings, retail, restaurants, strip malls all over. But, there are still some ranches left and this was the area we found. Lots of chickens, horses, llamas cows, goats, a few burros and we even found a squealing pig along the way. These guys shied away when we first came up but then their curiosity got the better of them and they scurried up and posed.

Now why does this cow have on this strange headdress? And, why are his horns painted red? He was not the only cow with this headdress and with red horns.

Along the way we found a grassy field that we think must be used for soccer since we found some goals around the edges. But it was definitely irrigated and watered since it was so grassy. At one end was a copse of trees with leaves that had all turned yellow. Would you believe 3 photographers taking pictures of various groups? Well, Gary had to get a picture of me. He forgot to tell me to smile when I tossed the leaves. I was so stressed thinking about how to toss them.

Later we found a pond with lots of ducks that enjoy being fed.

And, that was our day. Yep, Mr. and Ms. Excitement.
