Since we had some rain over the last month, the flowers were out in full force. Every where we looked we had scenes like this.
We got to the campground and it was packed. Well, it was a 3-day weekend and everyone was out on the roads. Luckily we found a good campsite and settled in. Now, tell me, who travels on a Saturday on a 3-day weekend? Boy, I’ve got to watch those holidays more closely. At least we weren’t trying to get in and park on Friday while everyone else was. Sure would have been hectic. Ha ha.
In the afternoon, we climbed some hills in back of the campground and took some pictures of the view.
Looks like Mt. Gorgonio in all its glory. With the warm weather we’re having now, that snow will melt quickly. Those stumps in the vacant lot? They’ve been here for years like that. I’m thinkin’ that someone was going to develop this lot but got caught in the recent building recession and no one has carried through. Some day, this will all be housing like the other sides of the campground.
Above you can see the whole campground and some of the housing around it. Gary and I keep looking at the brown hills just beyond the campground and wondering how we can hike them. But they are on private property and there are no trails. I'm thinking' it's a no go.
This picture is from the same hills that I took the last pictures but looking a different way - towards the farms which cover the area.
When we got to our site I put our TV antenna up and tuned in the TV. Looks like we get CBS where the Saturday debate is and PBS where we can watch Downton Abbey. Whew. We’re in luck.
Well, we were in luck to get CBS in the afternoon when I tuned it in because we couldn’t get it in the evening. Just a cute little message bouncing around the screen that said we had lost our signal.
Good-bye, debate.
AND, funny thing, PBS seems to disappear in the evenings. All snow. We tried again on Sunday afternoon - came in clearly. After 6:00 - snow. Come on, what’s the story?
Good-bye Downton Abbey.
We tuned and tuned and worked on the antenna to see why we got CBS and PBS at one time and not another. No dice. It will forever be a mystery. Although - and this is 3 years back - we both think that this same thing might have happened then.
We’ve noticed more about TV here. We can get NBC and that’s fine since we can watch National News in the evening. On the other hand, we see that it’s local news from 5:00 - 6:00 and then they repeat it from 6:00 - 7:00: same car crashes, same homicides, same weather. No national news. Hey, look on the good side: I’ll get more done now since there’s no TV to watch.
OK, now I’m all caught up with my blog having just published 10 blogs over 3 days. We’re using our time here in this campground to catch up between a busy month in San Diego and a busy 2 weeks in Palm Springs, our next stop. Whew.
Did you know that donuts originated in Holland? Gotta love those Dutch.
