San Diego, CA - Hansel & Gretel
After we had visited the da Vinci display we walked around Balboa Park, which is one of our favorite places to walk. There are lots of paths around the edges of the park and we’ve got some of our favorite paths although we have probably taken them all. We first headed out of the park and over to the lawn bowling area. On Sundays, they dress in whites, the official color of lawn bowling here. Today, they were dressed down. But their techniques were still on display.
Then down into a gully where there are marvelous trees with these roots. We noticed that this couple was using them as a great backdrop for their family pictures.
As we walked out of the park, we noticed this group running in. No matter where you go in San Diego, you’re not too far from the Navy.
On the trail we took around the park, we noticed several piles of spilled flour, marking the ‘right’ trail. They were definitely marking the trail since we followed them for about a block until they took another trail. But, flour, not breadcrumbs? We felt like Hansel and Gretel. If you look really carefully, you can see the next flour pile on the trail ahead on the second curve beyond Gary.
Finally back at the park we saw the buildings in all their late afternoon splendor. Here’s the botanical center.
A young family taking pictures.
A walkway.
da Vinci, a marvelous museum, a walk around the grounds. What could be better?
