San Francisco, CA - Tourists Part 3: Just Pictures

I had so many pictures in the last two blogs which were all on one day that I couldn’t put any more in or I’d bog down the camp data when I tried to upload my blog to the web. However, I had some that I thought showed some amazing Art Deco and didn’t want to leave them out. They are pictures from the 1939 Streamline Moderne Bathhouse Building on the bay which has been turned into a museum for the National Maritime Park along the Embarcadero. Painted by the artists of the WPA during the Great Depression, these, on the first floor, have just been refurbished and they are working on those on the second floor. Can’t wait to see them. Stunning colors and designs.

These are just a few of the pictures here. Absolutely gorgeous.
I recognized the colors of this sign and knew immediately it was a Wells Fargo bank in Chinatown.

Of course, ‘Wells Fargo’ was printed right next to it - that was a clue, too.
We saw this sight several times during our walk today. Can’t imagine how someone would leave the lock intact and take the bike. But, then, stealing isn’t something I do much less know all the techniques.

And, just a picture I like for the juxtaposition of the old and the new. This is the old Zoetrope Building with the TransAmerica Building in back in downtown San Francisco.

When I do a blog, I take the pictures that Gary has downloaded, write the blog and put the pictures in then I upload them to the web. Much easier than how a person did a blog in the 19th Century. They had to draw the pictures, write their book, then take them to a book publisher. Much more difficult. Whew, glad I live in this century.

And, a final picture. This is one that was on the inside of one of the doors to a stall in the women’s bathroom in the Maritime Museum. Hmmm.

And, that’s all for one day.
