Farmer’s Market time and today we’re heading over to Little Italy. Biggest market in the San Diego area with lots of vendors: food, art, clothing and, oh yeah, lots of farmers. I had bought some bamboo socks from Bambsox at the La Jolla Mkt a few weeks ago and they were so comfy that I wanted some more. The salesman had said that he would be at the Little Italy Market so here we are. Nice sunny day and pretty crowded.
I found my socks and then we strolled. I was intrigued by these vegetables. So intrigued that I’ve got some in my refrigerator now.
Cauliflower/broccoli hybrid. Called a Romanesco - or brocco-flower. Spiky little thing. Hmmm. Now I’ve got to cook it. Oh yeah, in my steamer, then drained, sprayed with ‘I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter’ and then sprinkled with Green Valley Harvest Dill dip. Perfect.
Then we strolled through Little Italy itself - lots of restaurants and they were all filled. Lots of out door seating.
Then back to our car. We saw this gate with all these locks on it. We have no idea what all this is.
Then to the beach. Parked in back of this little vehicle. That would fit in the back of the pick-up.
We love to watch the pelicans catch the thermals and ride them in a line. The Rockettes of the sky - all in sync.
Some of them found their lunch for the day as this fisherman cleaned his catch of the day.
Sailboats out on the water.
But most of the surfers we saw were waiting for their wave.
We saw an RV near the beach that looks very like our first one but about 8’ shorter, a Born Free.
I'm sure we couldn't go full-time in that size RV but there are others who do. I want to be able to twirl in the middle and not hit anything - even Gary.
Lots of fun on Ocean Beach, or OB as the locals call it. One of our favorite beaches.
