Yep, another story about ice cream. But, then, what is Nancy and Gary’s life except an endless search for the best ice cream? Well, as you know, that’s not true - - - we look for chocolate also. And, today we're in heaven - we got 'em both.
We had dinner with my aunt and uncle tonight so we hung around the RV most of the day doing home chores. We did get some errands in since we will be leaving SD in a few days. We picked up some groceries and Gary went to the ATM - natch. Those WFC ATM’s are handy. But - to his surprise - there were a few Girl Scouts selling cookies right at the ATM. What a great idea!! How could anyone tell them that they had no money right after they had been to the ATM? What marketeers - they will go far. Of course, Gary bought some boxes of cookies. We always support the Girl Scouts since I was one myself and I was also what is called a PGS, Professional Girl Scout. In my past, I worked for the Girl Scout Council of Rhode Island AND one of my projects was the Cookie Sale. A professional cookie pusher.
In the evening we all met at Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza. We’ve all been there before and liked it and I’d recommend it whenever you are in San Diego. Pizza’s, salads, sandwiches, steak, pretty much anything you’d like but they do specialize in pizza.
Gary and I ordered a chicken barbecue pizza and a salad to share. Marilyn and Fred each ordered a salad.
Then the fun part. Fred and Marilyn thought they’d like to share a “Messy Sundae. Gary and I, not wanting to watch someone else enjoy ice cream, also ordered a Messy Sundae.
Holy Cow, look at these!! The glass is filled with vanilla ice cream then caramel sauce is dripped over it onto the plate followed by fudge sauce, also dripped all over the plate. Then it is topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Pretty formidable. What were they thinking? I know we were not thinking, we were just following their lead.
Was there a lick of ice cream at the end of the dinner? Nope, maybe some fudge sauce and maybe some caramel sauce, but the ice cream was gone.
After it all, both Marilyn and Fred both admitted that they had forgotten how large they were.
Have the Messy Sundae when you’re in San Diego but - have salad for your main course.
