‘Smell the sea and feel the sky, Let your soul and spirit fly.’
Van Morrison
Can it get any better than this?
Waking up to foghorns
Seeing the Cascades peeking through distance
Savoring a junior cup of Espresso Chip from Elevated Ice Cream
Glorying in wild rhododendrons lining the trail on Mt. Walker
Waving good-bye to the passengers on the ferry
Walking along the beach as the tide rolls in
Watching as sailboats heel round the buoy and head for the finish line
Relishing a current hazelnut scone from the Farmer’s Market
Smiling as 7th graders learn some of the finer points of sailing
Watching tugs towing barges through Puget Sound
Seeing cruise slips gleaming in the evening sun as they glide over the water to the Inner Passage
Watching the fog roll across the water
Hiking the steps to get up the bluff to get from ‘downtown’ to ‘uptown’
Touring WWI bunkers which protected Puget Sound
Glimpsing the Space Needle from atop Mt. Walker
Enjoying 8th graders learning knots while tying themselves up
Can it get any better than this?
We’ve just spent a week in Port Townsend, WA and have thoroughly enjoyed it - for all the reasons listed above and many others. No great adventures, no expensive jaunts - just simple pleasures and a bit of rest and relaxation. Salt water will do that to you.
