We’re gone most of the year, traveling and exploring in our RV so we miss out on family get-togethers. And, that’s a shame since we have such a fun family. Well, today we took care of that and got together at one of Gary’s sister’s homes. I have to give credit to Cathy, one of Gary’s sisters, who actually had the idea and brought it to fruition. She was the one who put the date together after talking with us all. This wasn’t easy since Tom, Cathy’s husband was on a Continental Divide bicycle trip for much of September, while Tom, Dawn’s husband, had a fishing trip also scheduled in September. Gary and I were scheduled to leave on September 27 so there were very few days when all 6 of us could actually be in the same state, much less in the same home. But, she found the date, September 20 and it was on our calendars. (I’m late in writing about this since I have been lolling.)
Here are Gary and I (natch.)
Here are Dawn and Tom, who own the boat we're all tooling around in.
And, here are Cathy and Tom who live in Johnston near our campground in Altoona.
Cathy & Tom and Gary and I drove over to Swisher where Dawn and Tom live and took a cool ride in their boat in the afternoon. Here we all are in the boat tooling down the ‘Rez’ as the locals call it. Beautiful weather: no clouds, sunny and a bit of a breeze - such that we had our long pants on and Dawn, who was in shorts, covered up with a blanket.
Great drive around the lake.
Dinner afterwards. Dawn and Tom cooked chicken while the rest of us brought other salads and things. Fun meal. This is the second year we’ve done this - gotta keep up this new tradition.
‘Hey, did you ever realize that the word
‘bed’ actually looks like a
bed?’
