Palm Springs, CA - Sunny Days

Sunrise on the desert is awesome. The light spreads and slowly we can see the other RV’s parked across the desert. Bushes then come into view. But the mountains obscure the sun itself until it rises high enough to peek over them and the day begins.

A beautiful show but it's over quickly and it’s time to head on to our next stop in Palm Springs, 3 hours away.

We’ve been to this campground before so we know the ropes. We drive in, find a place to park and, in one try, get the RV into the spot. You can see in the picture that there are lots of date palms since it used to be a date palm farm. Now these trees are beautiful and I love to look up at them and see the sun glisten off of the leaves. However, when we’re trying to park between them, they are not so pretty. Not only does Gary have to back up between them, but there is an asphalt pad which he wants to be correctly positioned so that we step out on it when we leave the RV. Finally, there is a short red stake towards the back of the site which marks the sewer fitting we need to use - and don’t drive over it, please. Trees, stakes, asphalt, tricky. And, did I mention the light post right where we want to pull in to park in front of our RV? Oh, yeah, it’s always best to avoid the cars of the other campers parked in front of their rigs.

And, then a dirigible flew over and the trees were beautiful again.

We took a walk, for exercise we said, but we found ourselves at the Rite Aid where the hard ice cream was. What a coincidence!!! And, we surely wouldn’t want to let this opportunity flow through our fingers without testing. Ya snooze, ya lose. Not us. Almond mocha fudge - ummm - energy to keep walking.
