Menifee, CA - Marci, Will You Go With me to the Prom? Matt

Marci? Matt? Who are Marci and Matt? I guess you’ll just have to read the blog.

Panera for breakfast and then errands: Lowes for some caulk, Target for some groceries and the USPS for some stamps. Then home. Ah, we had one errand before we headed home - rosemary clipping. On a walk the other day, we found a large grouping of rosemary bushes with lots of springs that would be good in cooking.

Done with errands. Then it got better - but, then, anything is better than Lowes, Target the USPS. And, if you guessed ‘better’ was a hike - you win the prize. When Gary and I arrive in a new place, we look for the highest point in the area to reach. Around Menifee, it’s the Twin Buttes down the road about 5 miles. Not too tall but taller than anything else around here.

We’ve been looking at them for a while and, since, today is our last day here, it’s time to climb.

It was a cool hike  with large weather beaten boulders, a neat meadow high up in the rocks,

crows cawing as they soared through the thermals and a peak with a 360° view of the surrounding countryside.

But the funny thing was what we saw as we scrambled over the last boulders at the top.

Cool.

We could see the San Bernadino Mts. off in the distance, looking like an island above the LA Smog.

And, there’s Mt. Gorgonio - towering over the closer hills.

We always have to be aware of our surroundings and know what others are doing.

We found this little guy scrambling over the rocks at the top.

Was the trail steep and rocky? Oh, yeah. But, was it worth it? Will we do this same hike the next time we’re here? You bet ! ! !

Then as we were taking pictures, we heard a helicopter in the distance. A police black and white. Hey, look, we’re above the helicopter. Then it circled around and began to fly towards us. I waved and waved. Then, as it flew past, it blasted its siren a few short blares. Really cool. I’ve never had a helicopter say ‘hello’ to me.

And that was our hike.

Back at the RV, Gary worked out side to pull in the utilities while I worked inside to get us ready for our move tomorrow.

We’ve spent the time here in Menifee trying to catch up and that we have. Kinda. Do we ever catch up? Do we ever get all we want to get done - done? Nah, we just get less further behind.
